When I first started to think about what I wanted to do for my personal project, I had many ideas but none of them fit into a global context nor would be interesting enough to research it for a long period of time. Then I thought about how little I know about my countrie’s culture, which is when I realized that doing my project about a small part of my culture would be perfect. Learning the history of a festival that I have always celebrated and is so meaningful to Brazil interested me a lot, and designing a dress is something I have always wanted to do. But due to the small period of time that I had to complete my project and the circumstances I was in, it would have been impossible to sew the dress, however, there was nothing stopping me from being able to paint my design, which is something I am extremely interested in. Before this project I had no experience with either the history of Carnaval, designing a dress or painting, it was a really long shot but I believe I was able to do a really good job at the end.
